PE Sport Funding – Academic Year 2015-16

What is PE Sport Funding?

The Government provides additional funding for physical education (PE) and sport in schools. This funding is to be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision resulting in increased numbers of pupils developing healthy life styles, raising their performance levels and engaging in PE and sport.

The additional PE and sport funding allocated to Orrell Lamberhead Green  Primary School from 1st September for the academic year 2015/16 was £8,735.00

How is it spent?

 The additional PE and sport funding pays in part for the:

  • Commissioning of a specialist PE coach
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training for staff.
  • Increased quality of the teaching of PE through links with clubs and sporting organisations
  • Additional extra-curricular school clubs – the school currently runs football, rugby, dance, cricket, multi-skills, athletics, netball clubs
  • Outdoor education residential visits for KS2 classes
  • Increasing the number and range of for inter-school sports competitions
  • Increasing the number and range of intra-school sporting competitions
  • Contribute to the continuation of school swimming for KS2 children.

 

What was the impact of the additional PE funding on pupils?

The impact on pupils of the additional PE and Sport funding has been:

  • Improved staff PE skills and confidence in PE teaching and learning.
  • Increased opportunities and participation rates in extra-curricular sports.
  • Increased opportunities and participation rates in inter-school sporting competition.
  • Increased opportunities and participation rates for intra-school sporting competition.
  • To enable the sustainability of school swimming classes.

 

The additional PE and sport funding allocated to Orrell Lamberhead Green  Primary School from 1st September for the current academic year 2016/17 is expected to be £8,700.00.

The balance will be spent on:

  • Commissioning of a specialist PE coaches
  • Improve the use of assessment of PE within the curriculum.
  • Sustaining and increasing the number and range of inter-school sporting competitions
  • Sustaining and increasing the number and quality of intra-school sporting competitions.
  • Further improving the quality of PE, through links with clubs and sporting organisations
  • Increasing CPD (Continued Professional Development) training opportunities for teaching staff and non-teaching staff.
  • Increasing opportunities for physical activity and promotional of healthy lifestyles within and beyond the curriculum.
  • Additional lunchtime PE activities (eg Playmakers Scheme)
  • Contribute to the continuation of school swimming for KS2 children.
  • Additional resources to support school sport
