EYFS Curriculum Intent
EYFS
At Lamberhead Green, our aim is to create the BEST learning environment and build relationships which support, inspire and prepare our children to be confident individuals who flourish regardless of backgrounds, circumstances or needs.
Our ambitious and inclusive curriculum is designed to recognise children’s prior learning and their experiences at home to ensure the BEST start on their school journey. We endeavour to provide firsthand learning experiences, whilst allowing the children to build resilience, ambition, and curiosity. We intend that our curriculum educates all the children to be effective, inquisitive, curious, independent learners and influence their wider thinking across all areas of the curriculum. Our school motto is BEST: Believe, Endeavor, Succeed, Together and our school values are promoted from the moment each child starts at school. Our EYFS curriculum is built to support, inspire and prepare our children for their future. To achieve this we aim to:
Intent
In EYFS, our children experience the seven areas of learning through a balance of whole class, group teaching and play based learning, in our indoor and outdoor learning environments. The children’s interests, themes, continuous provision activities and phonics are integrated into our planning. Learning is carefully planned by the staff to support early reading, writing, mathematics, language development as well personal, social and emotional development. We work together, to encourage children to reach the Early Learning Goals at the end of the Foundation Stage and ensure children make good progress from their starting points. In a nurturing and safe environment, we provide opportunities throughout our EYFS curriculum to support learning, consolidate and deepen knowledge.
Support
We support our children to develop the confidence and skills to make decisions, self-evaluate, make connections, and become lifelong learners. This is a particular focus for us as we know that many of our children enter our school at below the expected level in PSED. We acknowledge that parents are their children’s first educators and that they know their children BEST. We quickly develop a strong and supportive partnership with parents and carers to encourage independent, happy learners who thrive in school and reach their full potential from their various starting points. We will provide suitable learning opportunities for all children by matching the challenge of the task to the individual child. We will achieve this through a range of strategies differentiated by task, expected outcome including from peers or adults. Each child will have access to quality resources to support learning. By creating a rich and varied EYFS curriculum that offers diverse, engaging activities, all children can be supported to achieve their potential.
